Had that forever love, a new mom for my son
A good spouse, a best friend, a special number one
Then she went and she fell in love with someone that she met
Chatting late at night on that darn Internet

There’s no use to cry, it didn’t help to beg
My life I’d come to love laid splattered like an egg
The door had just slammed shut on the world where I once fit
That’s when I shouted out,
That’s it, good-bye,
That’s it!

Picked myself up, went back to work, no time to be afraid
Was proud to get those checks and all that I had made
Then came Nine-Eleven, the world in disarray,
Businesses lost money, they laid me off today

There’s no use to cry, it didn’t help to beg
My life I’d come to love laid splattered like an egg
The door had just slammed shut on the world where I once fit
That’s when I shouted out,
That’s it, good-bye,
That’s it!

Life it ain’t been easy, then few people’s are
If the New York folks can rebuild too, my new life can’t be far
Saw a sign just late today after looking out for hours
Some ugly vines of yesterday, now a rainbow of flowers

Keep looking for that window
They say that God will open
You’ll know it when you see it
Just got to keep on a hopin’

Yes. there’s no use to cry, it doesn’t help to beg
When your life you’ve come to love lays splattered like an egg
Another door will open on a world where you’ll soon fit
That’s when you’ll shout it out
That’s it, thank God!
That’s it!

Yes another door will open on a world where you’ll soon fit
That’s when you’ll shout it out
That’s it, thank God!
That’s it!
